This curriculum aligns with the vision of education in Tanzania, focusing on preparing well-rounded individuals with knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes. These individuals will value equality, justice, and lifelong learning, contributing to sustainable national and international development.

The basic functions of TIE are:
1. Designing and developing Curricula at the levels of primary education, primary education, secondary education and teacher training colleges
2. Provide training to trainee and in-service teachers to bring efficiency and better results to curriculum implementation.
3. Provide and review the quality assurance of education regarding teaching methods, learning objectives and standards of teaching and learning tools.
4. Providing expert advice to the government through the Ministry and education stakeholders aimed at improving education at various levels.
