The Form One selection process for 2025 has been carefully conducted based on candidate’s PSLE performance. Candidates who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination in 2024 and scored between 121 to 300 total marks will be selected to join form one in the various government secondary schools.
The government secondary schools admitting form one students fall into two main categories: Boarding Schools and Day Schools. For boarding schools, these are divided into three groups: Special Schools for students with the best performance, Technical Boarding Secondary Schools, and Regular Boarding Secondary Schools. Boarding schools are national; thus, they are allocating students from various parts of the country, considering the distribution of slots as specified by the set criteria to enhance national unity.
The number of students selected to join boarding schools is very limited and depends on the number of allocated slots for each Region. The list of students in each Region/council is arranged according to their performance (order of merit), and those who perform better are placed in boarding schools based on the available slots in the respective Council. Therefore, not every student who averages an A grade may be selected for a boarding school.
